Highland City Food Pantry
“The purpose of the food pantry is to share the love of Jesus by filling bellies”
Nearly 1 in 5 families in Polk County is considered “food insecure.” The USDA defines food insecurity as “consistent access to adequate food that is limited by a lack of money and other resources at times during the year.” We have families in our own neighborhoods that are worried about where their next meal will come from, skipping meals, and even going entire days without without food all due to food insecurity. The food we provide is tangible way of showing God’s love. People are much more receptive to matters of the soul, when they are not worried about what they will feed their children for dinner. The TBA Food Pantry provides bags of food to food insecure families in Highland City and even in our own church family. Our open hours at the pantry where families are invited to come in to select their own food items allowing us to build relationships and be the hands, feet, and voice of Jesus.
Ways you can be involved:
- Pray for the people receiving food bags to not only be accepting of the food, but also the message of Christ.
- Donate non-perishable items such as canned soups, canned tuna or chicken, rice, black beans, fruit in 100% juice, etc. ***See List below or Amazon Wish List***
- Organize incoming food items and help with inventory
- Serve at an Open Hours helping to pack and carry bags, listening and praying with people, or just being a smiling, friendly face.
